This School Based Immunization Program has been designed to assist schools and communities in implementing the recommendations of both the Advisory Committees on Immunization Practices (ACIP) and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) for influenza vaccination in school districts across the country. Mollen Immunization Clinics contracts directly with most insurance companies and, and has joined with government agencies to provide immunizations to children.

The “Zap the Flu at School” program is designed to achieve the following:

  • Provide children with H1N1 “Swine Flu” and Seasonal Flu immunization
  • Provide each student, teacher, administrator; volunteer and school associate the opportunity to receive a flu shot during the school session.
  • Reduce the influenza transmission among children in the schools thereby reducing influenza among their household contacts and within the community.
  • Increase student attendance by reducing student and faculty illness related to influenza.
  • Decrease the need and the expense of substitute teachers by reducing flu-related faculty absence.
  • Increase the protection of the children in the school district who have certain chronic medical conditions such as asthma, diabetes, kidney disease, or weakened immune systems by reducing their exposure to the influenza in the school.
  • Improve wellness and health of the student body, faculty and administration.
